Happy New Year!

I want to wish you all an amazing New Year! 2013 was absolutely wonderful and I hope that 2014 is even better!

We had a enjoyable and laid-back Christmas at home with family. We’re performing on New Year’s Eve at Wineworks in Mission Viejo, California. They have a delicious menu that night and have several reservation slots available if you still haven’t made plans.

This past year U-Nam and I had a lot of fun recording and performing as Nivo Deux, and our group has a few new releases and events planned the beginning of this next year that we can’t wait to share with you!

In January, we’ll be at NAMM – I will be performing at the BG France booth and co-hosting their artist jam session on the Friday during the show. We also have some pretty exciting concerts coming up.

We hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. Thank you all for your continued support!

The 12 Deals are Coming!

12 Deals of Christmas

Last year Teen Jazz hosted the 12 Deals of Christmas, and for 12 days, we offered our readers 24 hour discounts on twelve different music products and/or services. A few of the deals from last year were:

  • 60-70% off Student Band Instruments from the Rheuben Allen Education Foundation
  • 50% off a professionally written bio or press release (this deal isn’t just for musicians) from All Music Review
  • 20% off music transcriptions from Zechiel Music
  • 25% off a professional photoshoot
  • a Free copy of the Album Checklist from Teen Jazz

This year, we’re bringing the Deals back and I although I cannot yet tell you what the deals are going to be, I’m pretty excited about this year’s partners. The program launches December 10, 2013 and you can get each day’s deals sent directly to your inbox by signing up here.

PS. Speaking of deals, right now I’m offering a 2 for 1 deal on my website. If you buy one signed copy of any of my albums, you get another one free for yourself or a friend. They make pretty awesome stocking stuffers! There are only 11 days left, so don’t miss out!

PPS. This Wednesday we’ll be performing a VIP Concert for KJJZ Members at the Indian Wells Hyatt Regency. That’s November 20th at 6PM. There are free appetizers, live music by Nivo Deux (yours truly and U-Nam), and a fun Q&A with KJJZ Radio Host Fitz. You can become a VIP member by signing up here.

Photoshoots for Vibrato and Rheuben Allen Saxophones

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of photoshoots, interviews (both for Nivo Deux and for Teen Jazz), performances and that’s just the tip of the iceberg!

U-Nam is working on a new album, so I’ve been in the studio recording saxes when I’m not practicing, writing for Teen Jazz or performing. There are quite a few great songs on the project and I’m just as excited as he is about it.

I love when things are busy like this. It’s really motivating and it definitely keeps you on your toes!

A side note, my birthday is this Sunday and so I’m doing something special for those of you on my mailing list. If you’re curious what it’s going to be, or if you want in, be sure to sign up before midnight on Saturday night!

And, of course, check out the photos from my latest photoshoot!

A Few Recent Updates

A lot has been going on the last few weeks and so I haven’t had time to write a post, but I wanted to share a few snapshots with you. We were Chartbound for the Billboard Charts with “Love’s No Distance” which was really exciting. I also had a photoshoot (new pics coming soon), several recording sessions for the new project and more.

I promise to write more soon!

Teen Jazz’s One Year Blogiversary and Other News

Teen Jazz celebrated it’s one-year blogiversary since it’s renovation yesterday, and it was an exciting day. I know that I’ve mentioned the site before, but just in case you’re new here, Teen Jazz is a website and community I run for up and coming musicians. The site has seen several milestones in the last 12 months and I look forward to many more months of exciting developments in the future.

U-Nam and I also had an interview with Trish Hennessey over at Hybrid Jazz Radio, but due to technical difficulties, the interview has been rescheduled to September 17 at 12pm PST. Hope to see you there in the chat!

Last week we also released, “Open Beta” our first EP as Nivo Deux. Excited doesn’t even begin to express the way I feel about this project, and we have a few exciting things planned in the next few weeks that I’ll announce shortly.

We also have a few other interviews with Coffee Talk Jazz Radio, Funky Band (for our French Speaking friends – ahem Eric), and Talking Smooth Jazz. You can check out where we’ll be here.

Second to lastly (yeah, that’s a thing now), I’m really excited about my new endorsement with Vibrato Saxophones. If you haven’t had the chance to see my new saxophone, it’s really pretty. AND, it sounds great. Plus it’s fun to play.

Finally, on Sunday/Monday we’re going to be doing an awesome giveaway with the Rheuben Allen Education Foundation at Teen Jazz to celebrate our anniversary and the start of the school year. So get ready!

How has your week been? I’d love hear to what you’ve been up to in the comments!
